How to choose the right size
Match the shape first, then the pixels. Two files with the same aspect ratio display the same way. 1080 × 1350 and 1440 × 1800 are both 4:5; the larger one just carries more detail for the platform to scale down.
Export at the recommended size, not larger. Platforms resize oversized uploads with their own settings. Instagram, for example, downsizes anything wider than 1080 px. Exporting at the listed size keeps that step in your hands.
Keep text and faces inside the safe zone. Profile photos, buttons and captions cover parts of banners, Stories and Reels, and profile grids crop posts. Each guide draws those areas to scale.
Check the file limit. Large PNG graphics can exceed a platform's maximum file size. The resizer shows the exact size of your export before you download it; switch to JPG if it is too big.
