Done-For-You Ad Management vs a PPC Agency

In short: These labels describe different things. Done-for-you names the level of client involvement: the provider owns the whole workflow and you approve rather than operate. Agency names the type of supplier. Plenty of agencies are collaborative and expect you to supply creative, briefs, and strategy input, so involvement has to be asked about separately.

Done-For-You Ad Management

A service model where the provider handles strategy, build, launch, and ongoing optimization end to end, requiring very little client time.

An arrangement where someone else owns the whole workflow, from creative and setup through launch, monitoring, and reporting, while you approve rather than operate. It suits owners whose time is worth more elsewhere and who have no internal marketing capacity. The point to settle before signing is ownership: the ad accounts, pixels, and conversion history should be yours, so leaving does not mean starting over.

PPC Agency

An outside firm that plans, builds, and manages paid campaigns for multiple clients, usually under a recurring fee and a defined scope.

A team of specialists running your accounts alongside other clients, which brings cross-account pattern recognition, platform relationships, and cover when one person leaves. It is the right choice when spend is large enough to fund senior attention and you want strategy plus execution without hiring. The thing to verify is staffing: who actually touches the account weekly, and how many other accounts they carry.

What actually separates them.

01

Done-for-you is a statement about your involvement, while agency is a statement about the supplier, and neither implies the other.

02

Agency retainers often assume a marketing counterpart on your side to brief, approve, and supply assets, whereas done-for-you assumes there is nobody.

03

Freelancers and productized services also sell done-for-you, so the model is not exclusive to agencies and not guaranteed by hiring one.

04

Because done-for-you concentrates control with the provider, ownership of ad accounts, pixels, and conversion history matters more rather than less.

05

An agency usually brings a bench of specialists, which is what you are paying the overhead for, whether or not the engagement is hands-off.

Which one should you use?

Use Done-For-You Ad Management when

  • There is no marketing function internally and nobody available to brief a partner.
  • Your time is worth more applied to product, sales, or operations.
  • You want one provider accountable for the whole workflow rather than coordinating parts.
  • Creative and reporting need producing, not just campaign settings maintaining.

Use PPC Agency when

  • You have an internal marketing owner who wants a partner rather than a replacement.
  • The work spans several disciplines at once and needs a bench, not one person.
  • Procurement or governance requires a contracted firm with process and accountability at company level.
  • You want cross-account pattern recognition from a team that runs many accounts in your category.

Common questions.

Is done-for-you just an agency with a different name?

Sometimes literally, since agencies market done-for-you packages. The phrase is useful anyway because it describes involvement rather than supplier type. Ask any provider to state what lands on your desk each week and what they need from you, and the label stops mattering next to that list.

What should I settle before signing a done-for-you deal?

Ownership of the ad accounts, pixels, and conversion history, so leaving does not mean starting over. Then the decision rights: what they change without asking, what needs approval, and what they will do when the honest recommendation is to spend less. Get the exclusions written down alongside the inclusions.

Does hiring an agency mean I can stop thinking about ads?

Not usually. Most agency scopes assume you supply the offer, brand constraints, creative direction, and feedback on lead quality, and results suffer when nobody internally does that. If you genuinely need to hand over everything, say so during the pitch and check the scope covers creative production and reporting.

Or stop choosing between them.

AdFlint picks the setting, writes the ads, and keeps optimizing inside the Google and Meta accounts you already own.
